Text One
If you are patient enough you can watch clouds slowly growing in the sky. It is from these that when the air is fully satured with moisture, rain will fall and this is why it happens.
Rain comes from moisture that has been drawn up in the air by the sun’s heat to form invisible water vapour. The change from liquid water to water vapour is called evaporation. The water vapour is blown across the ocean until it is over the land. The land is warmer than the ocean so the water vapour rises over the land .As it raises water vapour cools down. It condenses and changes back into liquid water around tiny airborne specks of dust or salt and forms water droplets.
Gradually a cloud forms from the growing mass of water droplets. Within the cloud, the droplets collide with each other and form larger water droplets. These may become so big and heavy they fall as rain. Rain falls whenever there is enough moisture for heavy drops to form………….

Carnival is public merrymaking and feasting, usually with processions of persons in fancy dresses. It is the simple definition of the word ‘carnival’. Therefore, it is not surprising if all people like to watch a carnival. Watching carnivals is enjoyable but following a carnival is another thing, especially certain students in Senior High School. To celebrate the Independence Day, some students reject to follow a carnival when the teachers ask them although still some of them will do it heartily. The students have their own opinions for following a carnival or not.
Students who are willing to follow a carnival say that taking part in such an activity can improve their self- confidence. It is a way to train one’s performance in front of the audience. They are not clumsy to act something watched by people along the road. They don’t mind getting mockeries as the viewers can give them any comment. What they get while doing the procession is a valuable experience for them even it will become memorable moments after they have left school.
Following a carnival trains the students to be socialists, social persons, as well. During the activities, they mix with other people, both the audience and the other participant mates. They have to suit the action and emotion to one another. Because the better team work they do, the better performance they will show and, of course, the more satisfied audience they will get.
The students who do not like to take part in carnival, however, will give different opinions. They think that it is a foolish thing, particularly, when they have to be in fancy dresses. It is just waste of time, energy and money. Some of them even do not like watching a carnival, either. For them, it is better to do more serious and real thing. Everything has the advantages and disadvantages. Before saying ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ to something, it’s better to think it over carefully. Don’t forget always consider the purpose of what we do.

Why do plants need roots?
Roots are not pretty and bright like leaves and flowers, but plants could not do anything without them. Anchored in the soil, they hold plants upright against wind and weather. They also grow out and down in search of water and minerals which are drawn all the way up to the leaves. Because trees grow to such enormous height, the roots need to grow outwards to balance the spread of the branches above.
Most roots grow in the top 1 ft (30 cm) of the soil. This part contains most of the minerals the tree needs to survive. Every single root grows a mass of tiny hairs near its tip to enable it to absorb water from the soil. There are little pockets of air in the soil. Without these, roots would simply wither and die.
